UniCredit launches fourth edition of “Road to Social Change”: profit, non-profit, and institutions united for comprehensive sustainability

The “Road to Social Change” initiative continues to focus on Integral Sustainability as a key driver for the development and progress of territories and communities. The 2024 edition will spotlight some of Italy’s most significant sectors: agri-food in the South (September 26), tourism in Sicily (October 30), and health & care in Lombardy (November), following earlier events on fashion and ceramics.

Integral Sustainability aims to:

  • Promote cultural and practical change within industries
  • Enhance competitiveness
  • Drive actors towards more responsible, ethical, and integrated models.

The program, designed to foster an entrepreneurial mindset and leadership models, is committed to linking economic value creation with socio-economic well-being.

Despite Italy’s efforts, the country ranks 24th in Europe in the Global Sustainable Competitiveness Index 2023. “Road to Social Change 2024” seeks to address this by fostering collaboration between profit organizations, non-profits, and institutions, and helping improve sustainable growth and skills development.

Innovations in 2024:

  • Insights from NATIVA, a company supporting businesses in transitioning to regenerative economic models.
  • A podcast series, Actually by Will, covering global changes.
  • Specific discussions on Cultural Change, Leadership, and Digitalization.
  • A practical model for guiding companies toward sustainability.

Strategic Levers:

  • Inspiration: Sharing real-world practices and insights from experts through live talks and podcasts.
  • Education: On-demand training and technical sessions for professionals in SMEs and non-profits.
  • Certification: “Social Change Manager” certification to equip leaders with the tools to drive the right and fair transition in their organizations.

Quotes from Leaders:

  • Annalisa Areni, Head of Client Strategies at UniCredit: “With Road to Social Change 2024, we aim to bridge the gap between profit, non-profit, and institutions to create new professionals who will lead a fair transition, bringing about innovation and inclusion.”
  • Marella Caramazza, Istud: “The program will experiment with a model to support SMEs in their sustainability journey across industries.”
  • Paolo Venturi, Aiccon: “This is an ambitious challenge, focusing on both skill enhancement and a transformation in the motivations and values within companies.”

Since its launch in 2021, the program has reached 6,000 beneficiaries, involving over 2,050 companies in Italy. In 2023, 1,800 participants joined from SMEs, non-profit organizations, and institutions, and 800 Social Change Managers were certified.
