The CSR and Social Innovation Fair
Simona Torre, General Director of Fondazione Italiana Accenture ETS, participated on October 10 in the roundtable discussion “How the World of Work is Changing.”
During the meeting, the new dynamics of the labor market were discussed, along with the essential role of training and the inclusion of people with vulnerabilities in organizations.
“Our training and social and work inclusion projects today reveal at least two contradictions. The first concerns the partial alignment between many companies’ statements on D&I commitment and their genuine willingness and ability to implement it through concrete, measurable actions. We observe this, for example, in the difficulties faced by some of our refugee students (from Afghanistan or African countries) in finding placements within companies, despite their motivation and their skills and experience in the IT field.
The second contradiction is the disconnect in our country between the first salaries offered to young people by companies and the cost of living, particularly in large cities, which is unsustainable for those who do not have a financially solid family network to support them. This leads some of them to decide to leave Italy, while others give up on jobs that align with their skills and aspirations and settle for professionally inadequate solutions that are economically sustainable.
This double contradiction can only be addressed through a joint public-private commitment aimed at offering these talented and brilliant young people in disadvantaged conditions the opportunity to start the professional career and life project they deserve in our country.” – Simona Torre
